Video ads by channel / FAST channels

Ads for FAST channels.

Fifteens and thirties in rotations, because a free channel will show the same break more than once tonight.

01

The medium

FAST is free, ad-supported streaming television: scheduled, linear-style channels inside apps such as The Roku Channel, Tubi, Pluto TV, Samsung TV Plus and LG Channels, funded entirely by ad breaks. eMarketer forecasts 131.4 million US viewers in 2026, led by The Roku Channel at 97.3 million, Tubi at 92.5 million and Pluto TV at 68.6 million. Tubi says more than 95 percent of its viewing is on demand, so it carries both kinds.

The breaks behave like cable. A study by One Touch Intelligence, reported by StreamTV Insider, measured four and a half to five breaks an hour and found that 22.5 percent of detected ads were repeats. Roku says its own channel runs about 8 minutes of ads an hour; the same study measured 11.1 there and 12.9 on Pluto TV.

It is bought in many places at once: Tubi's self-serve tool, Roku Ads Manager, Samsung's own tools and demand-side platforms, each with its own file limits, and Pluto TV through Paramount and its partners, who may not sell ads for competing streaming services.

Tubi and Pluto TV publish no advertiser spec sheet we could find, so their rows come from agency guides and say so; Samsung Ad Manager's help center refused automated reads and two versions of its article disagree. Ad-load figures disagree as well: Roku's own 8 minutes an hour against a third-party measurement of 11.1 to 12.9, read through a search snippet of StreamTV Insider's report. The basic Samsung DSP and Roku rows also sit on the connected TV page.

How we build an ad for it

Directed by people, made with AI, finished by hand. You approve the script and the sound before any footage is made.

  1. Rotations, not one hero cut

About one detected ad in five on FAST is a repeat, and breaks come four or five times an hour. The message is delivered in two or three rotations with different openings or endings, so a viewer who meets the brand three times in an evening does not see the same film three times.

  2. The brand in the opening seconds

A FAST channel runs on a schedule, so viewers arrive mid-break the way they do on cable. The brand and the offer read in the first seconds, with no slow reveal saved for the end, which a viewer who tuned in late would never see.

  3. Fifteens and thirties only

Every FAST seller takes fifteen and thirty seconds; Tubi accepts longer spots only by approval and at a higher CPM, by agency accounts, and Samsung Ad Manager's newer window stops at thirty. The fifteen and the thirty are planned as separate films.

  4. Files for the weakest link

FAST is bought through many exchanges with different limits, so a 1080p mezzanine ships with an H.264 MP4 at 5 to 10 Mbps under 50 MB for Samsung's DSP and a 15 Mbps version for the sellers that ask for one, all conformed from a single master.

  5. Level with the programs around it

A FAST break sits between programs from many suppliers, so a jump in level is obvious. The mix is measured to minus 24 LKFS, the figure one Tubi guide gives, and checked against the insertion order, since another guide gives a different number.

  6. Loops and home screen cuts

Tubi's Animated Pause Ad is a sound-off looping background, so it is cut as one continuous move with no hard cut at the loop point. Home screen units, such as the start-up video LG announced this year, are separate silent cuts made to each platform's own template.

What to order

Repeats are built into FAST, so the plan is rotations: several fifteens and thirties a month, each a different opening or ending on the same message.

Questions about FAST channel ads

What is FAST, and how is it different from Netflix with ads?

FAST is free, ad-supported streaming television: scheduled channels inside apps such as The Roku Channel, Tubi, Pluto TV and Samsung TV Plus, paid for by ad breaks rather than a subscription. Its breaks are longer and more frequent than on a subscription ad tier, so the creative has to survive repetition.

How many people watch FAST in 2026?

eMarketer forecasts 131.4 million US viewers in 2026, about 54 percent of connected TV users, led by The Roku Channel at 97.3 million, Tubi at 92.5 million and Pluto TV at 68.6 million. These are forecasts, not audited counts.

Can we buy Tubi or Samsung TV Plus ads ourselves?

Tubi runs a self-serve platform built with Universal Ads and publishes no minimum; Samsung sells through Samsung Ad Manager and its DSP; The Roku Channel is reachable through Roku Ads Manager. Pluto TV goes through Paramount or its partners. The accounts are yours; we deliver files for each.

Why does the same ad play twice in a FAST break?

When inventory is thin, breaks fill with repeats: one third-party study found 22.5 percent of detected ads were repeats. Roku's own rules forbid the same ad twice in one break for channels on its platform. We deliver rotations so that a repeat is at least a different cut.

What length and file should a FAST ad be?

Fifteen or thirty seconds at 1920 by 1080. Samsung's DSP takes 5 to 90 seconds as an H.264 MP4 up to 50 MB at 5 to 10 Mbps, and agency guides list Tubi's standard lengths as 6, 15 and 30. We deliver a mezzanine master and a conform for each seller.

Can a FAST ad mention Tubi or another streaming service?

Not on Tubi, where agency guides say creative may not name Tubi or FOX, and Pluto TV's partners may not sell ads for streaming services that compete with Paramount. A streaming brand needs another route, and no platform name appears in our cut.
